Friends of Scouting

Scouting means more than just camping and hiking. Scouting serves as a moral compass for today’s youth. It helps them develop strong values and the ability to deal with every situation they may face in life. Your gift made to the annual Friends of Scouting campaign enables the Council to continue providing an outstanding program to 21,000 youth in the nine counties include in the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council. Through your support, our children, families, and communities are stronger and better prepared for the future.

Gold Card Units
Is your pack, troop, team or crew a Gold Card unit?

What is the Gold Card? It is the Council’s recognition award for those units who participate in the Friends of Scouting Campaign. The FOS program is an important component of the Council’s annual budget.

To qualify for gold card status, there is a simple and easily attainable goal: Determine how many registered Scouts there were in your unit on June 30, 2014. Your District Executive can help you with that number.  Now multiply that number by 25%. Next step: Multiply that number by $206 (that’s how much it costs to provide program services to one youth member for the year).  That is the amount of money your unit needs to raise and have paid by October, 2015.

Each unit will receive:  (A) an attractive ribbon for the unit flag, (B) free Eagle kits for Gold Card Troops, (C) free Arrow of Light awards for Gold Card Packs (D) discounts at both Sand Hill Scout Reservation & Camp Soule
